Everybody learns something in Sunday school…even teachers. For instance: When you make a living teaching children unbelievable mythologies, you learn what kind of incredible things those children will believe. When you make a living exerting authority over children taught to yield to authority, you learn how easy it is to control them.
Eubank, Kentucky Sunday School teacher Rex Murphy apparently learned his lessons all too well…and applied them to sodomizing his students. On Monday night, police arrested Murphy for the sodomy and sexual abuse of at least one 16-year-old student of his.
(Interesting Note: The name “Rex Murphy” could be indirectly translated via Latin and folklore as as “King Devil.”)
For a man with experience in instilling magical thinking, maybe the way he went about that abuse shouldn’t be surprising.
According to Police Chief Colin Hatfield, Murphy’s victim told them that he (Murphy) had said he was “from a family of warlocks,” and that he could “tell all of a person’s sins just by touching them.” Murphy then used his “knowledge” of the boy’s “sins” as blackmail, saying that he would tell his parents everything he’d ever done wrong if he didn’t acquiesce to his sexual advances.
He also said the boy could “possibly die” from having his “sins revealed” in such a manner.
Hatfield told local television station WKYT that the “accusations were very graphic.” He also said that they believe there may be more victims; likely on the basis that Murphy’s well-honed, supernatural-threat approach seemed so studied and practiced.
And, practiced it was…by teaching Sunday school.
