In a recent ad campaign using searches from just last month, Google demonstrates sexism, prejudice against and disdain for women throughout the world.
Utilizing Google’s autocomplete function, the words finishing searches made during Septeber 2013 show an appalling view of women.
The campaign was created by the prestigious agency Ogilvy & Mather Dubai.
Google is very secretive about its algorithm, which changes often and uses aggregate data from searches as well as linkages and other information to generate what the company claims is the best rankings with the highest relevancy and accuracy.
Several years ago, the search behemoth added the autocomplete, anticipating what results people are seeking based on the initial word or words typed.
Imagine if Google projected what the GOP was looking for when members of that party typed in woman:
Transvaginal ultrasound; life sacrificed in lieu of abortion; restrictive choice options; no birth control in health plan; doesn’t believe this gender votes.
