Hillary tried desperately to reach out to young Latino voters yesterday by claiming that she was just like their “abuelas.”
Let’s just mention first how uppity it can make an elderly White woman seem when they speak to Latinos in full English, but throw in that one Spanish word to make sure they know their place in America.
Second, let’s be honest about how much Hillary Clinton REALLY has in common with anyone’s abuela…..grandchildren.
Other than that, Clinton has led a pretty privileged life compared to the lives of elderly Hispanic women.
Within a matter of minutes of Hillary’s campaign releasing this strategic move onto their campaign website, social media was afire with angry Latinos lashing out against the presidential candidate.
The pathetic attempt to relate begins with the title “7 Things Hillary Clinton Has In Common With Your Abuela.”
The sub-header reads:
“She isn’t afraid to talk about the importance of el respeto.”
The page goes on about random comparisons of things all grandmothers do, nothing relating to Hispanic women specifically.
The real clincher though was at the end, when she used a picture of her and singer Marc Anthony to prove that at least one Latino likes her.
Ok, ok. Enough with feeling bad for Mrs. Clinton’s hispandering, now for the hilarity she deserves.
The bashing has even started a new hashtag on Twitter and Facebook that reads #NotMyAbuela.
Below is some of the backlash directed towards the former Secretary of State.
