Seriously, show this video to the next creationist who denies evolution is real, and then ask them to try and explain how it’s possible that we’re not related to the delightful little creature lending a helping hand to this primate rescuer.
The video was uploaded by a primate rescuer named Louise Smith who explains:
This is Chino, a brown Capuchin who lives at the International Primate Rescue Centre in South Africa, teaching me to crush leaves.
The video shows Chino reaching out through a fence, and grabbing the hand of Smith and placing leaved in her hand in an attempt to show her how to crunch them into little bits. The intention and the desire to teach a human is so strong and palpable from Chino, that its impossible to ignore the connection between the monkey and his human student.
Though not a single word is spoken between the two, and the skill Chino is teaching Smith is primally simple, the basic desire to teach, and to be connected to another like being is so apparent that it’s impossible to ignore the similarities between our species and that of Chino.
So the next time a creationist starts talking about how dinosaurs are a hoax, that the earth is 6000 years old, and that a magic old man is responsible for the wonders of life and love, show them this video and ask them to explain not only what they see, but also that they feel while watching it.
