On Friday morning authorities shot and killed a Tru-Patriot™, a sovereign citizen who–armed to the teeth–showed up at a Georgia courthouse. According to investigators, sovereign citizen Dennis Marx arrived at the Forsyth County Administration Building with assault rifle, bulletproof vest, smoke grenades, and a gas mask, as well as “buckets of homemade explosives,” ammunition, zip-ties, and water.
Marx, a gun buyer and trader who was due in court Friday for firearms and marijuana charges, fired over 50 shots before a deputy was able to distract and gun him down. “From the video, it looks like he saw that deputy, swerved to try and run over the deputy. The deputy engaged him. He was shooting at Mr. Marx in the vehicle, Mr. Marx was shooting through the windshield at the deputy,” Sheriff Duane Piper said.
During his attack, described as a “full frontal assault,” Marx threw out homemade spike strips to stop other vehicles from approaching and attempted to run over the deputy who eventually would end his life. Piper says that Marx threw gas grenades.
“He came prepared to stay a while. (Marx) came here for the purpose of occupying the courthouse, it appears,” Piper said.
Marx, according to police, had no prior criminal history and was obsessed with not going to jail–which apparently led to the shootout. WSBTV has released a video that captures the shootout, which you may view below.
