Tucson shooting survivor and hero who helped stop the madman, Patricia Maisch, screamed, “Shame on you!” after Vice President Joe Biden announced that the bill proposing tougher background checks for gun purchases didn’t pass the Senate. A majority 60 votes would have been needed to pass the measure–a measure that 91% of Americans support. Maisch made headlines when it was discovered that the 61-year-old woman stopped the gunman in Arizona from reloading by taking his 9mm handgun and a fully loaded magazine. The mass shooting in Tuscon left six people dead and 14 others wounded, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.
Democratic Senators who voted “No” on the bill and who we should vote out in 2014:
Sen. Heidi Heitkamp from North Dakota
Sen. Mark Pryor from Arkansas
Sen. Max Baucus from Montana
Sen. Mark Begich from Alaska
