The Senate has passed a bill that would repeal Obamacare and defund Planned Parenthood.
Once this bill reaches the desk of President Obama, it will be vetoed, but that didn’t stop Republicans from wasting tax dollars and resources to pass a useless bill they know will be shut down.
All the while, Republican legislators are dead silent about gun control in the wake of the deadliest year for mass shootings ever in American history.
It doesn’t matter how many people die, and how many people’s lives are ruined, Republicans simply do not care.
They protect an outdated piece of parchment before their own children.
Surely if they loved their children more than the 2nd Amendment, they would want them to live in a safe country instead of the terrorist state we now call home.
Trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which greatly helps many Americans, seems more like a petty retaliation than an altruistic gesture.
According to Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama):
“It demonstrates that if you have a president prepared to support health care reform, it could pass next time. If this vote occurred after the next presidential election, instead of vetoing it the President would sign it. This would force a bipartisan reevaluation of health care in America and put us in a position to make major changes.”
Mitch McConnell had this to say about repealing Obamacare:
“Middle class Americans continue to call on Washington to build a bridge away from Obamacare. They want better care. They want real health reform. For too long, Democrats did everything to prevent Congress from passing the type of legislation necessary to help these Americans who are hurting. Today that ends.”
When talking about the issue of gun control, Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York, had this to say about Republicans who refuse to legislate for stricter gun laws:
“The entire country will know where every member of the Senate stands on tightening background checks, on keeping guns out of the hands of terrorists, and on strengthening and improving mental health in this country. The scourge of gun violence that has swept through this country in recent years has snuffed out thousands upon thousands of lives. It’s an epidemic that must be dealt with head on and that means keeping guns out of the hands of people who should not have guns.”
Republicans have waged legislative war on the citizens of the United States, while also somehow gaining the trust of many of those same Americans.
They must be stopped.
