The Seattle Police Department took faux umbrage at a recent bit by Stephen Colbert. Insert tongue in check.
Actually the Police Department started the hilarity. Washington, the state not the district, along with Colorado legalized marijuana through referendum last year.
When Seattle’s finest attended an annual get-together called Hempfest, the police had helpful hints to those who toke- ranging from the obvious to the sublime.
Folks should not drive high, nor inhale in public — but SHOULD play Dark Side of the Moon at a reasonable level.
Seriously, that came from the Seattle PD not Colbert.
The comedian did a follow-up which fake angered some of the less mellow officers.
They sent off an equally funny letter, creating a mobius strip of pot jokes.
The Department writes, in part:
“We simply cannot remember a time we were more incensed by such a blatant mischaracterization of our department. We continue to investigate the sale of marijuana to minors, and we certainly do not encourage the use of silly branding like ‘Bubba Kush’ and ‘Alien Dog.’ If it were up to us, pot brands would have names like ‘Remember to Call Your Mother’ and ‘You Don’t Want to Grow Up to Be a Drummer, Do You?'”
There is more about how much tax revenue Seattle is raising as evidenced by the 3-month-long wait for pizza.
If The Colbert Report is looking for more writers, perhaps he should investigate Seattle’s law enforcement.
