Sometimes, it seems that even cool mercenaries like Sean Hannity have a limit to how much right-wing BS they can take before they step up and say something. Today, after Speaker John Boehner tossed his hat in with House Majority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise after it was found that Scalise gave a speech at a white supremacist conference in 2002, Sean Hannity called for Boehner to resign immediately.
Speaking to Breibart, Hannity called for Boehner to resign immediately, and to be replaced with Rep Trey Gowdy. Hannity spent a good part of his emailed statement shilling for Gowdy, noting that it was time for “dynamic leadership in the House of Representatives” and that “Boehner has snubbed and ignored conservatives.”
Hannity, also a Fox News host, is specifically, in his exclusive statement to Breitbart News, calling on Boehner to be replaced with South Carolina’s wildly popular Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC).
“The American people need bold inspiring solutions to reverse the damaging policies of the President and his party. This is not a time for half measures,” Hannity said in an email. “It’s time for new dynamic leadership in the House of Representatives. Trey Gowdy is my choice for speaker. He has the ability to articulate and implement the changes needed to get the country on the right path.”
Hannity added that Gowdy has “a plan to balance the budget, secure the borders, push for energy independence and replace Obamacare with personal healthcare savings accounts,” while Boehner shuns conservative Republicans.
“John Boehner has snubbed and ignored conservatives for too long as evidenced by the recent cromnibus budget deal he made with Obama, Reid and Hoyer,” Hannity said. “It’s time he step aside for the good of country and the conservative movement.”
I’m still amused they call Breibart a “news” source. It’s arguably worse than Fox.
At any rate, don’t think this motivated by Scalise’s white supremacist proclamations. If anything, those just won him his next reelection bid. There’s bad blood between Hannity and Boehner for the same reason there’s bad blood between Boehner and the rest of the Teapublcians: Boehner made the occasional effort to keep them in line and keep them from doing the really damaging stuff that they wanted to do. Now that there’s a chance to get rid of Speedbump Boehner, they’re going to do it.
Over at Breibart, it’s backwards day in the comments (which, I guess, is any day ending in -y). They’re having a field demanding that Scalise and Boehner resign, all the while playing the familiar canards: the KKK was originally Democrat (I wasn’t aware that we were still living in 1950s; last time I checked the calender, this red herring was almost 60 years old — but if we’re going this route, note that Karl Marx and Fredrick Engels both supported Lincoln and the socialist Republicans during the Civil War), something about Bill Ayers, and other tripe that just goes to show how little self-awareness they possess.
