The organizers of CPAC highlighted the up and coming among the ranks of far right conservatives with a segment they called the Top 10 Conservatives Under 40 on Friday. Among those so honored was Jenna Haggar, a state Representative from South Dakota and the daughter of her district’s other Representative Don Haggar. She demonstrated her accomplishments that qualified her for the honor by telling those gathered for the conservative love fest that we are living “under the imperial President, his highness Barack Hussein Obama.”
Her home schooling and lack of any advanced education shone through in her remarks as she told the audience that progressive policies which hand out welfare and other free stuff to the rabble among us have created a nation dependent on the government for everything, with generations living entirely on the government dole.
“America was founded by virtuous, self-righteous, self-reliant people,” she said, “we even joke in South Dakota, you have to be a strong woman to survive the winter.”
Was that a Freudian slip? Self-righteous people are those who see themselves as superior to others, it is hardly a virtue, it is arrogance and arrogant people seldom have anything to be arrogant about.
“The people who drove covered wagons across the prairies and badlands to settle my state had to work to survive, there was no government to provide for them,” she continued.
That is not a glowing recommendation for home schooling with absolutely no formal education of any kind, she is obviously unaware of the Homestead Acts which provided those settlers with 160 acres of free government land, all they had to do was be the first to get to the piece of land they wanted and make improvements on it.
Shortly after her historical gaffe she demonstrated a limited vocabulary by attempting to paraphrase Thomas Jefferson saying that he, “warned that dependence suffocates virtue, made people tools of an impressor’s[sic] ambition.”
“Now we have proven President Jefferson right,” she went on, “as we live under the imperial President Barack Hussein Obama, mmm, mmm, mmm.”
She seems totally oblivious to the contradiction when she goes on to speak of how blessed many of us feel to live in the most free land in the world. Which is it? Are we living under a dictatorship or in a free land? It can’t be both, the two are mutually exclusive.
This is the sort of person the right sees as the wave of the future, proud of her lack of education and who cannot see the contradictions in her own words.
