Sarah Silverman just posted a video endorsing Senator Bernie Sanders for president, and it’s going viral. The hilarious comedian posted the video on March 28th, and it’s already breaking the internet.
Silverman speaks to Americans who have become tired and fed up with political discourse in this country, and urges people to make a change by casting their ballot for Bernie Sanders.
‘It’s important that you treat your vote as something valuable, because it is. It’s so valuable. Candidates literally spend billions of dollars trying to get your vote.’
Silverman goes on to point out how she was previously a Clinton supporter, stating:
‘I’m a feminist. Democratic woman president? Yes please!’
But, she then acknowledges that Clinton accepts a lot of money from corporations and banks, as she essentially has to in order to stay competitive within the corrupt game of politics.
‘Every politician takes money from big money, ever since it was made legal through Citizens United. It’s not right, but it’s legal. It’s legalized corruption. If all the other ball players are taking steroids, you have to take steroids too to compete, right?’
In signature Sarah Silverman style, she hilariously goes on to say she’s not anti-Clinton, but that there’s someone better.
‘I’m not against Hillary – I just, I met someone I have more in common with, and his name is Bernie Sanders.’
Silverman points out how Sanders refuses to take money from super PACs, and powerfully says:
‘Bernie is not for sale.’
She goes on to say:
‘Without taking a penny from Super PACs, corporations, or self-interest groups, Bernie Sanders raised over $100 million from over 5 million individual donations, donations from human people, averaging $27 each. He proved that what is right can also be possible.’
Silverman’s video points out perfectly that the game of politics can be changed, and that better is certainly possible. And how does one do it? By voting for Bernie Sanders.
As for the worry of some Americans in regards to Sanders’ socialist ties undermining the great American capitalism, Silverman had this to say:
‘Good lord, don’t worry! Under President Sanders, you can still become a super-rich asshole!” Silverman went on to say, “it’s just that you fellow citizens don’t have to feed their children cat food in order for you to do it.’
Maybe we should all take a hint from Silverman, and believe that change is possible.
She finishes by saying:
‘Don’t be sucked into a rigged American Dream ponzi scheme that was never intended to include you. Vote.’
