Remember that time Rudy Giuliani saved New York? Rudy Giuliani remembers. Surprisingly though, during this week’s appearance on Fox News Sunday, Rudy never once mentioned 9/11. He did, however, blame black people for the fact that they get shot a lot by police.
During the interview, Rudy was asked about the surveillance video of police gunning down 12-year-old Tamir Rice. The video very clearly shows police acting less as law enforcement officers and more as exterminators, firing within two seconds of pulling up as though casually putting down a rabid possum. Or raccoon, as the police think of them.
Afterward, Giuliani told Fox that unjustified shootings do happen more often in black neighborhoods…but it was mostly black peoples’ fault for having so many cops there.
“There’s no question that individual cases have situations that are unjustified, but you’ve got to put it in proper context. Why is it happening? Why is it happening more often in the black community? And doesn’t it actually logically make sense that it’s going to happen more often in the community where there is five, six, seven, eight, nine times more violence than in another community?”
Evidently, the “blame black people for white cops” is Giuliani’s new party line, as he said something similar in an interview last week. He said that there is more “unfair interaction” (greatest euphemism of all time) between police officers and those in black communities, but that there’s
“…just as much, if not more, responsibility is on the black community to reduce the reason why the police officers [are there in the first place].”
In other words:
“If YOU weren’t menaces to society, you wouldn’t keep running into OUR menaces to society.”
Giuliani also said that he’d favor body cams, since he believes they’d show that “90 to 95 percent” of shootings were legally justifiable. Because as we all know, synonymous are the terms “legally justifiable” and “right.”
