Three years ago, right-wing “Christian” extremist Bryan Fischer managed to run afoul of even the ultra-right American Family Association with his embarrassing over-the-top tirade demanding that the U.S. government force Muslim would-be immigrants to convert to Christianity.
Now, Fischer’s at it again. Right Wing Watch reports that on Monday, he went off the rails during his radio show demanding that Muslims abandon their strange customs and embrace our God (even though they already worship the same God), follow the Ten Commandments (even though Muslims already follow the Ten Commandments), and adopt our “Judeo-Christian values” (even though Muslims already share these values and acknowledge this common ground by referring to Jews and Christians as “People of the Book“).
Because Fischer wants to do immigration “God’s way.” Whatever that is.
“those who came to our shores would be expected to adopt our religious values and traditions — that would mean Christianity and not Islam — and they would leave behind their religion and their god.”
In other words, Fischer believes moving to America would mean that Muslims need to abandon their alleged hostility towards bacon and whining about the lack of Halal foods in schools and prisons. Because that’s the nature of the strange associations bouncing around in Fischer’s head.
If only those danged Muslim immigrants would “leave behind Islam and Allah” Fischer believes we’d have this amazing unity here in America.
“If this were to happen, we would have one god, we would have one law, we would have one culture, and we would have one language”
Okay, so, it would be an extremely creepy kind of unity, but…
Watch Bryan Fischer’s anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant rant.
Back in 2011, Right Wing Watch reported that as the AFA’s then-director of issues analysis, Fischer wrote the following anti-Muslim, anti-immigration rant — which was so outrageous, even the AFA had to take it down.
Allowing Muslims to immigrate into the United States, a Christian nation by origin, history and tradition, without insisting that they drop their allegiance to Allah, Muhammad, the Qur’an, and sharia law, is to commit cultural suicide. We believe in freedom of religion for Muslims like we do for everybody else. But if they insist on clinging to their religion, they will need to exercise their freedom of religion in a Muslim country which shares their values: death for those who leave Islam, the beating of wives by their husbands, and the labeling of Jews as apes and pigs.
Immigration is a privilege, not a right, and our policy should be to admit to our shores only those with a commitment to a full assimilation to American culture, adopting our faith, our heroes, and our history. Someone with a Muslim background who wants to become an American had best be prepared to drop his Islam and his Qur’an at Ellis Island.
So ancient Israel offers a paradigm of what a sensible and sane immigration policy looks like. It’s simple: don’t break the law (that is, come in through the front door instead of breaking in through a window), convert to Christianity, fully assimilate (become an authentic American, not a hyphenated American), and support yourself. If you commit to those things, you are welcome here. If you don’t or won’t, perhaps it’s best for you to stay home.
