Transylvania is where you kill vampires, not hunters. Someone apparently didn’t get the memo, however, since that’s exactly what happened when one North Carolina hunter shot and killed his friend after he mistook that friend for a deer in Transylvania County.
Our would-be Van Helsing shot and killed 58-year-old George Harley Case, Jr., of Pisgah Forest, in the evening hours of Thursday according to WYFF4.com. Police were called to the scene at about 7:45 p.m., where they found Case dead. He’d been struck with an arrow.
His friend informed the Transylvania County Deputies that he’d mistaken Case for a deer and shot him.
The Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office and North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission are currently investigating the accident. An autopsy was scheduled Friday in Winston-Salem.
Salem? Transylvania? North Carolina? They couldn’t have done much worse for themselves if they were bow hunting in Hell itself.
