A 69-year-old Tennessee man accidentally shot himself in the hand yesterday. Why is this news, you ask? After all, there are 14,000 to 19,000 accidental shootings every year here in gun-crazed America.
What makes this case special is the ironic location of the accidental discharge, the Old South Trading Co., a gun shop in Dyersburg.
The owner of the shop, Jimmie Anderson, told deputies that a customer had brought in a 9mm handgun to be repaired. He had said that he emptied the magazine, but there apparently must have been one more left in the chamber because the gun fired into the left hand of the employee. The employee was transported to a hospital to be treated for his injury, which is not life-threatening.
Unfortunately, there was no “good” gun store employee there to stop the “bad” gun store employee.
