Police and investigators are on the lookout in Southwest Florida for a man who posted a disturbing photo online.
The photograph, which appeared in a Facebook post that has since been removed, shows the man holding a cat by the “scruff” of its neck and pointing a gun at its head.
The post was first reported to the Charlotte Count Animal Welfare League; Sharon Thomas, the executive director at the Animal Welfare League, said of the picture:
“To see something like that, it just turns my stomach. Just to pretend you’re doing it, or to think that it’s funny in any shape or form, is criminal to me.”
Other pictures have surfaced, discovered by animal control, of the same man pointing a gun at a dog.
Police, investigators, and the Animal Welfare League are now treating this as a possible case of animal cruelty.
