Fortunately, there were no disastrous consequences after a patriotic, Second Amendment-loving gun owner accidentally “exercised his rights” in the checkout line of a Jasper, Indiana Walmart.
According to Tristate, Police say 65-year-old Kenneth Pirtle told them he reached into his front shirt pocket, where he was irresponsibly storing his gun, to grab something when he accidentally fired the .40-caliber weapon. The bullet went through his pant leg, ricocheted off the floor, then became lodged in a wall.
The “responsible gun owner” suffered the only injury–minor burns to his leg–for which he refused medical treatment. Police speculate that other items in Pirtle’s pocket may have contributed to the weapon’s discharge.
He has been charged with criminal recklessness with a firearm.
So, NRA, which was he–the “good guy” or “bad guy” with a gun? The lines are becoming more and more blurred.
