Continuing their decade long Islamophobic war on Muslims, Fox News, Republican congressmen, and conservative pundits have additively used their bully pulpit to accuse the world’s two billion Muslims of being responsible for the Boston Marathon bombings. In a cynical exploitation of those tragic events, FOX News hosts and pundits have spent every day since warning their terrified viewers about that Islamic menace working feverishly to take down America.
Fox and Friends host Brian Kilmeade suggested putting “listening devices” in American mosques, and asked himself–live on the air–why there can’t be more racial profiling of Muslims and Arabs. Just this morning, the Fox and Friends hosts pondered the (in their minds) very pressing and relevant question of whether there is an “infection” of “radical Islam” in America.
Of course, Bill O’Reilly joined in the bigotry fest by screaming at the head of the Council on American Islamic relations when he attempted to point out that people like the Tsarnaevs are not representative of all two billion of the world’s followers of Islam.
Even Bob Beckel, the supposedly liberal on FOX News, made a call to bar or severely restrict Muslim students from coming into America. Yesterday, when pressed on his comments, he stood by them, explaining that it is a “risky situation” that some of the 75,000 Muslim students in American schools are likely to harbor terrorist ambitions.
Not to be left behind, the always grating Ann Coulter called for Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s wife to be jailed for wearing a hijab.
Perhaps the most vile and disgusting display of Republican bigotry was WorldNetDaily contributor Erik Rush’s Tweet, which unequivocally stated: “Muslims are evil. Let’s kill them all.”
Of course, you have never heard a Republican politician or pundit blame all white Americans for the Oklahoma City bombings, nor point out the fact that Tamerlan Tsarnaev was scolded at a mosque for making radical fundamentalist statements.
Unfortunately, Republicans will not stop playing this dangerous blame game until the American public speaks up and puts enough public pressure on them. Please do your part by sharing this and other related articles so that everybody will know what these bigoted Republicans politicians and pundits are up to.
