Leah Remini recently sat for an interview on ABC’s 20/20 to explain to all the normal people of the world the inner workings of the Church of Scientology..and boy is it weird.
She explained that the church is pretty much obsessed with all things Tom Cruise, and to criticize the actor was more than just frowned upon.
Remini was actually written up for commenting about Tom Cruise’s idiotic behavior right around the time he met Katie Holmes.
Remini told ABC’s Dan Harris this about Scientology’s worship of Tom Cruise:
“Being critical of Tom Cruise is being critical of Scientology itself. You are a person who is anti the aims and goals of Scientology. You are evil.”
Remini has always been an outspoken person, on and off the screen, so when she saw the odd behavior Cruise exhibited over and over, she was just as weirded out as the rest of us.
She believed Cruise’s behavior made the church look bad, as if their reputation could get much worse:
“I’m saying, ‘I don’t think he’s becoming of a Scientologist, jumping on couches, and attacking Matt Lauer, and attacking Brooke Shields. Like… ‘What the hell is this guy doing?’ … we need to rein it in, we need to stop all this, and he just needs to be an actor.”
The cult has completely turned on the once extremely devout Remini, trying to smear her in the media.
If they had any credibility at all, Remini’s career and personal life may have suffered tremendously because of these attacks.
Thankfully, Remini put herself on blast before the church had a chance.
She admitted in her book, Trouble Maker, that she was a human being, unlike the drones still suffering within the Church of Scientology.
Dan Harris says in the interview:
“You say [In the memoir], ‘I am an apostate, I have lied, I have cheated,’ you then go on to admit that you’ve been selfish, that you’ve physically threatened people, and been a horrible wife and mother.”
This came just shortly after members of the cult showed up to the ABC offices to deliver a packet containing malicious, hurtful, and defamatory things about Remini.
The actress left the church 2 years ago for the sake of her daughter, who would eventually be taught to turn against her own mother for speaking her mind about silly-ass Tom Cruise.
She has decided to speak out against the organization, releasing detailed descriptions of her life growing up in the Church of Scientology since the age of nine, when her parents divorced and her mother immersed herself into the nutty teachings.
I applaud Remini for standing up for her beliefs in human rights…and because her beliefs no longer coincide with that of a science fiction writer.
