Four Washington Redskins fans got more than they bargained for when they agreed to defend the use of the Redskins’ name on The Daily Show last night. One of the fans, Kelli O’Dell, told the Washington Post that:
“I felt in danger. I didn’t consent to that.”
She was referring to a staged showdown between the group of Redskins fans and eight Native American activists. In the video, each group made their case in separate rooms. At the end, the Redskins fans were surprised with a face-to-face debate with the Native Americans.
The video did not show the full confrontation, but the viewer gets the idea of how it went. One of the Redskins fans even tried to file a police report. I’m pretty sure an actual crime has to take place for that though. Watch the video for yourself and see just how ignorant people can be. By the way, I was only able to find one definition for ‘Redskin’ in the dictionary:
