Looks like Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice just got sacked, despite not being a quarterback.
After video emerged on Monday of him brutally beating his then-fiancée, the Ravens not only terminated their contract with Rice, but he has also been thrown out of the NFL, as well.
Initially, the Commissioner, Roger Goodell, suspended Rice for two games as a result of the attack, which left his finacée unconscious in the elevator of an Atlantic City casino. However, after a change in the League rules resulting from public outcry over the disparity between his punishment and the punishment of players who faced suspension for a first-time positive test of substances like marijuana, Goodell made the announcement Monday to indefinitely spend Rice from the NFL.
NFL officials claim that they hadn’t seen the video until the gossip site, TMZ, posted it. In a statement released Monday, the League said that:
We requested from law enforcement any and all information about the incident, including the video from inside the elevator. That video was not made available to us and no one in our office has seen it until today.
The incident happened on Feb. 15. After a heated argument, the video appears to show him striking first, then she hit back, and he finally delivered the knock out blow that left her unconscious.
