Following the Democrats’ move to enact the “nuclear option,” changing the rules governing the use of the filibuster, grumbling Senator Rand Paul cried to CNN that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is a “big bully.”
I think what we really need is an anti-bullying ordinance in the Senate,” Paul said to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. “I mean, now we’ve got a big bully — Harry Reid says he’s just going to break the rules and make new rules. He’s gotta have everything his way; he’s gotta control everything. This is more about them trying to control the agenda and shift it away from Obamacare than it is anything else.
You want an anti-bullying ordinance? How about a proposal that will eliminate holding congress hostage for the entire duration of President Obama’s time in the White House?
The TEApublicans are responsible for the highest rate of filibusters in U.S. history. Republicans have bonded together to block every major proposal that the Obama administration has introduced.
There have been more than 100 filibusters since 2009; this doesn’t include the refusal to confirm judges. That is an historical record, but an achievement not worthy of credit. Paul has the nerve to bring up bullying, but he can’t face the American public and admit that his goal since Obama was elected – his and his TEApublican posse – was to do everything in their power to block anything the administration has proposed.
I’m just glad to see their shameful and terrorizing actions won’t be allowed in Congress anymore – their unprecedented obstructionism has reached an end.
