What kind of environment creates something like Teapublican and leader of the Kamikaze Caucus, Senator Ted Cruz (R-AT&T)?
One with Rafael Cruz at the helm. Last week, the father of Ted Cruz (R-Comcast Cable) went on an epic anti-progressive tirade, calling on preachers to take the “Christian nation” of America back from the secular humanists. The rant was sparked during an interview with bishop E. W. Jackson, during which Cruz was asked about abortion.
Cruz noted that progressives use phrases like the “war on women” to describe the Republican war on women, but Cruz maintains that the “real war on women” is the aborted millions of female fetuses. He added that the “blood of 57 million babies is crying out to God” and compared it to the “blood of Abel” crying out to God.
Cruz said that reactionaries needed to “turn the tables on the progressives.”
“Fifty-seven million women are walking around with the emotional scars of abortion, that only Jesus can heal,” Cruz said, “That’s the real war on women, we need to turn it on them. When they talk to you about the ‘right to choose’ who chooses for that baby? We cannot acquiesce to their rhetoric.”
Pro-“lifers” seem to think that the right exists somewhere to force a human being to sacrifice their bodily integrity — at great risk to their health and welfare, I might add — in exchange for nothing, to save another human. You get no say, you have no choice — and no, having sex wasn’t a choice to get pregnant, and I wish pro-“lifers” would stop turning fetuses into consequences for expressing sexuality; I thought you people cared about them (no I didn’t. I never did).
What Cruz and other Pro-“lifers” support is something frighteningly similar to Repo, the Genetic Opera. Only it’s the State, instead of corporations, that controls your body. The State can demand you sacrifice — or “repossess” — parts of your body at any given time for another human being. He calls being opposed to this “pro-murder,” and then accuses progressives of attacking language. Even communism wasn’t that extreme. Stalinism offered more bodily autonomy and freedom.
To add an extra layer of irony here, Cruz went on to cite the 1936 Soviet Constitution:
We need to be preaching that ‘He who does not work does not eat.’ And we need to be preaching that a dependence society is a society that becomes a slave to government.
Because nothing says “freedom” like the State demanding you sacrifice your body, without your choice, for another human being.
Cruz went on to to add:
God is not finished with America. You know, God had his hand upon America. America is a very special country. God has used America to evangelize to the world. Through America, we have sent more evangelists to the world than the rest of the nations of the world put together. God has blessed this nation because we have blessed the nation of Israel and the Jewish people.
Okay America, show me on the doll where God touched you.
Well, both of those things are under attack today. Now we see that chaplains in the military are told they cannot use the name of Jesus. They now even want to have atheist chaplains. That sounds like an oxymoron. But, you know, we need to make sure that we have everyone in our congregation, number one, registered to vote, number two, committed to voting for righteousness.
Cruz maintained that “we need to take back society” and encouraged amateur theocrats everywhere to “run for school office, for school board, run for city council, run for mayor, run for state rep, run for state senate, run for every office in the land.”
Take back society from who, Cruz? Your fellow Americans, who want nothing to do with your warped theocratic views?
