Speaking by phone to conservative radio host Ben Ferguson on Friday, Ted Nugent issued what amounts to a non-apology for having called President Obama a “sub-human mongrel,” a term coined by the Nazis in 1930s Germany.
“They want me to apologize,” he told Ferguson, “for using street-fighter terminology like sub-human mongrels, but that leftist, mindless, soulless, unprofessional, dishonest media will constantly level allegations of pedophile and draft dodger toward me and no one seems to mind that they lie, while I’m just using metaphorical street language to describe corrupt, power abusing elected officials.”
Ferguson asks him, “did you cross the line by calling the President of the United States of America that [sub-human mongrel], and if you saw Barack Obama, would you apologize to him for saying that about him?”
“Yes I would,” Nugent replied, “I did cross the line, I do apologize, not necessarily to the President, but on behalf of much better men than myself. Like the best governor in America, governor Rick Perry, the best Attorney General in America, god just think if America had an Attorney General as great as Greg Abbott like we do here in Texas. So on behalf of those professional politicians…I apologize for using the street-fighter terminology of sub-human mongrel instead of just using more understandable language such as, violator of his oath to the Constitution.”
Since Nugent raised the issue, calling those who refer to him as a draft dodger and then goes on to call the President a liar, maybe that should also be looked at. While he may or may not have used the method popularly ascribed to him of avoiding the draft there are serious questions as to exactly how he did avoid it. An extract from his draft records obtained by News Hounds via a FOIA request shows that he had a student deferment for years in which he was traveling with his band and performing 300 concerts per year, he had a deferment as a full time student. One has to wonder where he found the time to study.
He and Ferguson also attack Wendy Davis blaming her for a video from Battle Ground Texas, a PAC with the stated goal of turning Texas blue, which they say openly mocks the fact that Greg Abbott is paralyzed. According to them this is a vicious attack ad from the Davis campaign which is being used to raise money from outside of Texas and shows how low Wendy will sink to raise funds and win an election.
True, Battle Ground Texas does support Davis, but as everyone knows, candidates have no control over what a PAC says or does, as we have heard it from the right repeatedly. Remember Swift Boat
Veterans for Lies Truth? They told some nasty untruths about John Kerry and everyone said that it couldn’t be held against Bush.
