There’s nothing more enjoyable than trolling prudes and puritans, and Rachel Maddow knows it. The MSNBC host took down of a group of Tea Party school board members in Arizona on Tuesday, when she noted that the biology material that the Baggers were trying to censor was available online, rendering futile any attempt to censor it.
The ‘Baggers of the Gilbert School Board voted last month to remove two pages from an honors biology textbook that discussed the “morning after” pill and abortion. The vote was lead by the Bagger majority, 3-2, and one of the Baggers, Daryle Colvin, announced that the easiest way to scrub the books of the “offending” content was to just tear the pages out.
I thought ‘Baggers were all about teaching kids responsibility and respect for other people’s property. How are we supposed to teach children not to destroy school textbooks when idiots on the board are promoting just that?
Since all three lost their bid for re-election earlier in the month, there were rumors that they would try to remove the pages before they leave office — which led to Maddow to set up the set up ArizonaHonorsBiology.com, which contained the pages.
Of the pages, she said that “They’re lovely in their boring biology-ness,” and that “if you want to brush up on how a baby’s made or how contraception works and all that stuff at a 10th grade level, be my guest.”
She added that “Arizona may be conservative, but Arizona, you are still part of the United States,” and “You really can’t pretend some parts of biology don’t exist because they make you feel oogy.”
Well played, Maddow. Well played.
