C-SPAN 2 was carrying a live conversation between Politico’s Mike Allen and yet to be indicted war criminal Dick Cheney today when someone in the audience apparently tried to make a citizen’s arrest of the former vice president.
Cheney brought most of the Cheney family with him to the affair, in what appeared to be an attempt to show America that he, wife Lynne, and daughter Liz are actually human beings.
After an initial comment about “train wrecks” from Dick, Lynne produces a chuckle from the audience with a swipe at Hillary Clinton, commenting about how their family wasn’t “dead broke” when they moved to Washington. Liz then offers how it was a “tribute” to her parents that they always talked politics at the dinner table.
Ah, the wonderful life of “Despicable Me” and his minions.
Allen starts to ask Lynne Cheney about her book on the life of James Madison, when a commotion erupts in the audience.
A woman’s voice can be heard off camera, yelling:
“Dick Cheney, war criminal!”
This provokes a laugh from Lynne Cheney, followed by Liz chuckling and chanting, “Four more years! Four more years!”
The camera briefly swings around to show the audience, where a woman holding a pink sign and waving a pair of handcuffs can be seen, standing next to a man who is apparently a security guard. Then the picture goes black.
A little later, a C-SPAN announcer comments that they were having problems with the video feed from Politico.
According to the Huffington Post, after the video went dark, there were more protests, prompting Lynne Cheney to quip, “I wondered why the line was so long.” The women’s anti-war group Code Pink took responsibility for the protests.
