The Clarion-Ledger reported last Friday that a Jackson County, Mississippi, sheriff’s deputy was fired after recordings of him allegedly saying that he gets “paid to beat up n*gg*rs” surfaced.
The sheriff, Michael Slater, made the remarks when he addressed an opponent over chat on Xbox Live. He allegedly said that “You about to come to a f—–g paid police officer’s house. I get paid to beat up n*gg*rs like you.”
The entire exchange, profanity and all, was recorded and posted on the Free Thought Project website.
This is depressing; usually the idiots spewing hate and filth on XBox Life are cast as snotty 13- or 14-year-olds who were never taught basic manners. Never an adult sheriff’s deputy, but depressing as it is, it doesn’t surprise me any at all.
As soon as the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office caught wind of it, they fired the three-year-veteran.
The spokeswoman, Cherie Ward, told the Clarion-Ledger that “We don’t condone that type of behavior or language.”
I’m impressed by the actions of the police department, and the more I think about how impressed I am, the sadder I become.
