Picture for a moment that you are a popular Michigan-based Christian DJ. You’re enjoying the Big Ticket Christian music festival–one of the nation’s largest Christian music events–when Battle Creek police arrest you for having sex with a young boy.
That’s exactly what popular Christian radio personality John Baylo faced on Friday. According to Battle Creek police Sgt. Jim Martens, Baylo was identified in an investigation of sex trafficking in the area. Following the arrest of another man, Ronald Moser, Homeland Security investigators discovered that Baylo paid Moser to arrange a sexual encounter with a minor.
Martens refused to discuss specifics, however.
Baylo was initially placed on paid leave following his arrest. “We are shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the arrest and allegations against John Balyo, WCSG morning radio host. He has been put on indefinite paid administrative leave pending further investigation and the legal process. Our thoughts and prayers are with those involved in the investigation,” the station said in a statement.
However, Baylo was officially fired on Saturday. Effective today, John Balyo is no longer affiliated with WCSG Radio. Chris Lemke, general manager of WCSG, will address this matter on-air at 7:30 am during Monday’s (June 23) WCSG morning show.”
