The Tea Party News Network reported that two good, pure Christian farmers are facing oppression at the hands of dirty, stinky, godless, gays because of a requirement that they treat people equally — What a shock!
Robert and Cynthia Gifford, owners of Liberty Ridge Farm in New York, host weddings, receptions, birthday parties, and company events on their property as a way to supplement their income. The scenery is beautiful — but the hearts of the owners are as black as the inside of Satan’s sphincter.
When a LGBT couple, Jennifer McCarthy and Melisa Erwin of Newark, NJ requested the facility for their wedding, the Giffords agreed to allow the reception, but not the wedding, claiming that a loving couple getting married violates their religious views that marriage is between one man and one woman.
While the Bible disagrees with “Christians'” views on marriage (something these “Christians” would know if they were to actually open their Bibles), the owners insisted that their bigotry-shielded-by-religion is a completely valid excuse to discriminate against two people they find icky.
According to court documents, the “Christians” told the same-sex couple that their wedding would cause “a little bit of a problem” because the owners have a “specific religious belief regarding marriage.” The McCarthys said that Liberty Ridge Farm was a public accommodation, and that the owners’ actions were unlawfully discriminatory under New York law.
“The policy to not allow same-sex marriage ceremonies on Liberty Ridge Farm is a denial of access to a place of public accommodation,” Judge Migdalia Pares wrote in her decision.
Pares fined the owners $10,000 for violating the state’s non-discrimination law and ordered the Giffords to pay the couple $3,000 for “mental anguish each suffered as a result of respondents’ unlawfully discriminatory conduct.”
New York’s Sexual Orientation Non-Discrimination Act, enacted in 2003, “prohibits discrimination on the basis of actual or perceived sexual orientation in employment, housing, public accommodations, education, credit, and the exercise of civil rights.”
According to the Tea Party News Network, the judge “sided with the homosexual couple, putting their imagined right to a homosexual marriage above the First Amendment rights of the Giffords, claiming that the Christian farmers, “unlawfully discriminated against complainants solely on the basis of their sexual orientation.”
After the judge punished the Giffords for their bigotry, the “Christian farmers” decided that, rather than follow the law, they will simply refuse to allow any weddings other than the ones already under contract.
Tea Partiers weighed in on the news — and boy, did it get stupid!
Interestingly, if one were to replace “homosexual” with “African-American,” this would seem like a “news” article straight out of the Jim Crow era. Of course, these same people would be railing against that, too.
