Oklahoma City Police arrested Officer Daniel Holtzclaw for sexually assaulting eight women — all of whom are black, ages 34-58 — and the usual crowd of racists are already out raising funds to legally defend Holtzclaw’s indefensible acts.
USA Today (which originally mentioned six women) reports Holtzclaw stands accused of raping at least two of these women while on duty, and faces other serious charges, as well:
Officer Daniel Holtzclaw, 27, was charged with two counts of first-degree rape, four counts of sexual battery, four counts of forcible oral sodomy, four counts of indecent exposure, one count of first-degree burglary and one count of stalking.
Court records show Holtzclaw demanded that the women submit to these abuses — along with exposing themselves and being fondled by him — in order to avoid arrest.
In so far as they had any choice at all, these women appear to have wisely decided that the only thing worse than getting sexually assaulted by this misogynist sicko would be getting sexually assaulted by him in jail.
Mediaite further reports Holtzclaw’s being held on $5 million bail, and hence probably won’t get out of jail any time soon. But — as with Michael Brown’s murderer Darren Wilson — Holtzclaw has supporters who have launched a fundraising campaign to raise $100,000 in legal funds.
The Justice for Daniel Holtzclaw Facebook page claims:
“Daniel Ken Holtzclaw, a 27-year-old Oklahoma City Police Officer, not only DESERVES but is required by law to be given a Presumption of Innocence.”
Strange how nobody ever seems to say that when police across our nation brutalize and murder young black men with no “Presumption of Innocence” whatsoever. Nor do many folks seemed concerned about the fact that these eight women’s bodies and their civil rights have been violated.
But, apparently, even the sorts of totally-not-racist citizens who raised over $400,000 for Wilson (before his GoFundMe! page got shut down due to all the offensively racist comments) find Holtzclaw beyond the pale:
His pitiful Facebook page has only 543 “likes” and has only raised $7,390 so far.
