It happens all the time: Husband and wife get into a fight, somebody holds a cell phone with 9-1-1 on dial and hits “SEND” in the heat of the moment. That’s usually a pretty quick way to end any dispute, and probably a little more so when the guy you’re calling about walked away with murder. Cops show up, nobody presses charges, and it’s an hour of bad-guy-catching time wasted.
We reported earlier that the official story from Lake Mary police now is that there wasn’t a gun involved; Zimmerman never had one, they didn’t find one, nobody saw one and they never heard of the guy. Also reported is that this is SOP for domestic calls in Florida when nobody presses charges, and rescinds what they said on a 9-1-1 call.
Police Chief Steve Brecknell is a bit less wishy washy on the subject of George Zimmerman, though; sounds like he wishes Lake Mary police could just run their local celebrity out of town on a rail like the good old days. He told TMZ:
The guy just can’t stay out of the news. You’d think he’d get the heck out of Dodge (City).
Brecknell’s of the impression that Zimmerman is Hell-bent on causing trouble, and bringing more bad press to town.
It’s smoke, smoke smoke. Is there a fire somewhere? Lord knows.
When TMZ asked how Brecknell felt about the idea of Mr. Wrong-Place-Wrong-Time living next door, he said:
I would not want to be the neighbor of George Zimmerman.
