A new video has surfaced in which Dr. Ben Stout, a Wheeling Jesuit University ecologist, gathered water samples from a Charleston home’s hot water tank and kitchen faucet. The samples are being sent to two chemical testing companies to check for crude 4–Methylcyclohexane Methanol, which leaked from a Freedom Industries tank, contaminating the drinking supply for nine counties.
West Virginia American Water assured residents that the water was drinkable, but eventually rescinded that declaration when residents flooded the company’s Facebook page with remarks to the contrary. Freedom Industries is attempting to evade financial responsibility by hiding behind bankruptcy—financing for which is provided by a company that shares an owner with Freedom.
“You’re gonna have to flush this hot water heater a lot of times to get this shit outta here!” – Professor Ben Stout.
No matter what, West Virginians lose in the end as those with money attempt to ignore the persisting problem.
