In a bizarre clip from Pat Robertson’s 700 Club, the TEAvangelical charlatan was at a loss to explain Justice Kennedy’s decisive DOMA ruling, speculating that maybe he was influenced by his — wait for it — gay law clerks.
How does such an influential figure, both in the nutty world of fundamentalist religion and the far-right fringe-sphere of TEApublicans, get by with such bizarre and near-senile musings? Of course, Robertson is famous for his apocalyptic rants about God sending earthquakes, the dangers of Voodoo, demon possession via used clothing, etc. But you have to wonder in moments like this if Robertson is actually utilizing his thought process or simply trying to scare his room-temperature IQ-possessing base.
At any rate, if Robertson’s speculation is true, we owe a lot to Justice Kennedy’s bevy of gay law clerks.
