Appearing with Sean Hannity on his show Monday night, Sarah Palin said that the TEApublicans in Congress should be telling the American people that not only will the shutdown of government not do any damage to the nation, but that it is the President and Congressional Democrats who are responsible for it.
This is a fine example of someone who has lost the argument before they begin. Palin went on to reference President Obama’s statements about Syria a few weeks ago, saying that “we don’t do pinpricks, but sometimes we elect them.”
Apparently in her quest to appear “folksy,” she has decided that she must also make crude remarks about our president.
She also drags out the old canard that Congress knows that the Affordable Care Act is a bad law and therefore exempted themselves from it. Of course anyone who has ever actually researched that claim knows that no such exemption exists.
Congress simply has the choice whether or not to use the exchanges just as anyone who has insurance through their employer has that same choice. However, an amendment introduced by Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and included in the final bill requires that Congressmen and their staff must purchase their insurance through the exchanges, just as anyone who does not have employer provided insurance.
