Ted Cruz thought he wandered into friendly territory when he appeared on Bill O’Reilly’s television show this Tuesday. But the host was a little worried that somehow the American public will put the blame for the government shutdown on the Republicans.
For the fifty-billionth time: Congress cannot use measures, like defunding, to derail legislation that has been validated in all three spheres of government, further endorsed in a Presidential election with the policy as a major component and differentiator between the two candidates — with said legislation also enjoying the support of most of the populace.
O’Reilly, ever the comedian, jokes that the Congress could start funding parts of the government up to and excluding the Affordable Care Act. (Which is Obamacare.)
Cruz, ever the statesman, gallantly preferred delaying the start of the program, which was October 1, for a year.
Health coverage is like justice. Delayed is denied.
To push back Obamacare would cripple, if not kill it.
