Earlier today, in a pathetic excuse-filled statement, Minnesota’s sixth Congressional District Rep. Michele Bachmann announced that she would be stepping down at the end of her current term and not seeking reelection (watch below).
Wrapped in an escalating campaign fraud finance investigation by the FBI, and with the polls showing that she is trailing her Democratic opponent, it’s only natural that she and her advisers decided to cut and run and, presumably, sign a deal with FOXNews as a bigoted contributor. We also have some other suggestions for Bachmann’s future career here.
Democrat Jim Graves, who was going to challenge her in 2014, joined Huffington Post Live Wednesday to discuss Bachmann’s announcement that she will no longer be running for reelection
He started off by explaining that Michele Bachmann’s excuses as to why she decided to quit are ridiculous, given the fact that she seems to love doing what she does, but is trailing in the polls.
“It’s political Spin. If she thought she could win, it’s the best job she ever had, she loves the limelight, she loves her soapbox and she loves the style of life.”
He went on to tell the host that while “the timing surprises us,” Bachmann’s decision was not unexpected.
“The polling information wasn’t very favorable for her, and I think the pathway to victory was almost impossible,” he said. “We’re all happy. This is a good day for America. Quite frankly, there’s no room for a theocracy. We’re a democracy. From that standpoint, I do have a smile on my face.”
Of course, he is correct in stating that it’s a good day for America. Anytime we can rid Washington of a money-hungry, bigoted, hateful corporatist stooge, it’s a wonderful day for America. Not only has Bachmann attacked Muslims, the LGBT community and the American poor, she has taken the side of the big banks and multinational corporations on literally EVERY SINGLE issue.
Her simpleton TEApublican followers might fall for her shameless corporatism, but it seems that the American people are finally onto her antics.
