Oklahoma Politician’s Restaurant Won’t Serve Blacks, F***ots or Poor People (Video)

An Enid, Oklahoma business is facing backlash from the “PC crowd” over a few of its policies that all but the owner seem to find questionable, at best. Ward 4 Enid City Commission candidate Gary James promises a “n**ger-free experience,” and he has the t-shirt to prove it! No, really, there’s a t-shirt–as well as others with slurs against the LGBT community, Hispanics, and Democrats.

Gary’s Chicaros restaurant is a place where patrons can be themselves, as long as they are white, straight, Christians with a good job. Gary doesn’t tolerate what he considers to be “trash” in his restaurant. “I don’t like girlie men. I’m not fond of men with all kinds of metal in their face,” he said. “My customers don’t want them around, and I don’t want them around. I don’t consider that racist. I have black friends, but they are productive. Guys who come in with their britches down to their knees won’t get served in my place.”

Gary has developed very keen “gaydar” in his 44 years in business, as well as a talent for judging others based almost entirely on their skin color. “I’ve been in business 44 years, I think I can spot a freak or a faggot… I don’t deal with these people walking down the street with no jobs on welfare… If I reached over there and slapped the sh*t out of you, you should be offended. But to call someone a chink or someone call me a bigot, that doesn’t bother me.”

Apparently though, the easiest way for him to tell if someone isn’t welcome is their skin color. As another of his wonderful t-shirts says, his restaurant is “where the great whites gather.”

However, Mr. James is not a racist — he even says so himself! “If a racist is someone who doesn’t like unproductive trash, then it’s true. I’m talking about white, black, brown or yellow. I don’t like unproductive people,” James said Monday. The “not-racist” also added, “People who know me, know better.”

“If you work, you own a business, you pay your taxes,” Gary says, “you’re more than welcome in here.”  Although, he recently kicked a disabled (white) former regular out of his restaurant for “creating an issue.” That issue, according to the customer, was his wheelchair.

Watch Gary explain exactly how “not racist” he is.

About John Prager

John Prager
John Prager is an unfortunate Liberal soul who lives uncomfortably in the middle of a Conservative hellscape and likes to refer to himself as an "island of reason in a sea of insanity." While he is not a fan of politicians, period, he has developed a deep-seated hatred for the bigotry, fear mongering, and lies of the Right Wing. My family is french. My mom, dad and grands are totally white. I am fair skin with greenish eyes and brown curly unmanageably frizzy hair. I look black with brown frizzy colored hair and greenish contact lenses. I live comfortably but, my networth is way more than this man who claim part of christianity.
We are all very humble also value all human. We look at quality, passion, willingness, desire to live better in all human. We help all in need without distinction.
We also love fine arts and fine restaurants. I wonder if we all go to that restaurant, what would he do to me? Kick me out or call the police for coming with my white folks since I look black and weird?

A filthy little tin roofed holler and an owner who looks as greasy as his fare and will be dead in less than a decade. And is smugly proud of his bigotry.

I hope a black person goes in there and then sues him out of business. I’d do it myself, but I live in Asia and therefore am too far away… although a transpacific plane ticket just to see his business go down in litigated flames might be worth the $2000.

The way this is written, it’s not clear whether the T-shirt says “ni**ger” or has the word spelled out completely. I realized your hesitance to have that word on your site because of concerns of blocking software, but I think it would be a good idea to indicate that his use of the word is not censored.

You support people with views like that and YOU call US stupid. Try a mirror (if you can stand looking into one that is).

Because he espouses many of the views they share. Next question?

Bet you he’s got one of those signs that says MANAGEMENT RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE and he altered it to show his extreme fear and hatred. Wonder how many “regulars” carry that KKK card

I am not a fan of labels and yet I still know if one were to be put on me it would probably be “conservative” and then I read of despicable behavior such as that of the man in this article and reading it in conjunction with the author’s bio it seems that it is implied that the restaurant owner’s behavior may be based upon his affiliations, racial, political or otherwise, but here’s the deal, love is what I desire to have dictate my actions and I pray my thoughts and I would suggest that those qualities are found more on an individual level and should not be attributed to one’s various affiliations (for if we do, we are in a sense joining their ranks). I am HORRIFIED at the thought of this man’s business practices, I am sorry he is so broken. Sadly, people like this can be found all over the world in every classification; conservative, liberal, all races and faiths, etc. Here is a special classification we should remember to set aside for people like this if in fact we must categorize “HATEFUL”. Often these HATEFUL people find themselves in the spotlight earning fame or recognition for being the worst examples of humanity and I wish they could be put in their proper category which would not point to his race, gender, political affiliation, religion but again I would suggest the only category fitting of people with these behaviors is one that highlights the truth of their condition “hate”. Here’s a saying I wish could dictate all human behavior “no matter the question, love is the answer.”

Let the ignorant shithead run his business the way he chooses. He isn’t important enough to disrupt the lives of good, decent people. I doubt he runs a five star establishment and I highly doubt his food is tasty enough to appeal to my puppy, who will eat anything. He is trying to stir things up in the hopes of bringing like minded customers to his place of business, thinking this is just advertisement he gets for free. He will find out soon enough this ploy will backfire and he will, instead, lose more customer’s than he gains.

This idiot owner once attacked me from behind 25 years ago just because we were from Colorado. Imagine how he feels about others. Enid should be sorely ashamed that this place is still open. I cannot believe it has not burned to the ground. Unfortunately the air force base folks kept it going. No one in their right mind would go to this place. Enid, shut this idiot down – he is an embarrassment to the state.

    • Carrie B.

What Air Force Base is promoting this man’s resturant?

  • Rob

If I’m ever in the area I’d go in, enjoy my meal, and leave a dump in the upper tank of his toilet. Let him fish that out of there.

would be considered “IRONY” if a gay black male sporting an ear ring and a suit, walked in to his business and he tells him “walk your n****r f****t freak ass out of my place” and the black gentleman just as kingly as anything says “Ok sir, but just to let you know, I’m from the health Dept, and we’re shutting you down for refusing a Health Inspection”? Or would that be “JUST DESSERT”?

    • http://imaniou.wordpress.com The F Word

I would love to be there that day… except I am black so I would just be laughing from the window.

  • Kevan Scott

No Joe, If he has a public business he has to provide and accept equal access for all. All being of any race, color, creed, and sexual orientation! Hey, anyone want to make a field trip with me down to Oklahoma and show this racist owner just what equal access means? I’d be sure to bring along the bullet proof vest though. But, if there are enough of us…

  • https://www.facebook.com/kathy.crowell.73 Kathy Crowell

From the look of his “cafe” it looks like a dump. Fitting for his patrons.

  • Ted Holland

Oh no he doesnt Joe. If you are open to the public, you dont get to pick and choose which public that is. This is blatant discrimination pure and simple. Now if he had a PRIVATE CLUB, he could make whatever racists, bigoted rules he chose and serve who he chose….but in America, everyone is afforded the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. As a city councilman, he is not only abusing the system but he should know better. Im very surprised he hasnt been sued. (But I have an idea thats coming real soon.)

  • mgn

Well, his FB page needs some Goatz, and perhaps if there’s property in the neighborhood, a campaign can be run to generate enough money to buy and paint rainbow colors, just like what happened across the street from the WBC headquarters. What a scum bucket.

Yet the wing nut Teatopian gunlovers are up in “arms” about Toby Keith’s restaurant not allowing guns, and want to shut it down. Now they have a place they can go…

  • Bryan Rivera

@ joechagnon I’m pretty sure he dose not have the right to segregate based on ethnicity, color, creed, sex, age, etc. I would look it up, but I’m bored with this.

  • Thorsten Stier

Fine, there must be a habitat for social degenerated morons….

  • Exploding Ned

I used to live in Okie-land for about 15 minutes back in ’75. Some of them are extremely ignorant boneheaded people. So it’s good to see the red and ignorant crowd is alive n well, and I will never have to live in that pathetic dump again. Mid GA is bad enough. HA!

  • paul fredine

there’s no other way to put this….this guy is an a-hole, pure and simple….stress the simple. if this guy owned the only restaurant within a thousand miles, i’d walk away….or i’d try to open one across the street and steal his business.

  • joechagnon

He has the right to serve who he wants to serve. Do I agree with him? No. Would I go there? Probably not. But he does have the right to serve who he chooses and put whatever he wants on his shirts. This whole plague of people saying they’re “offended” are really saying they are too stupid to control their own emotions so others have to do it for them.

    • https://www.facebook.com/skip.moreland.5 Skip Moreland

Actually no there are limitations to who he is allowed to refused. He can have a dress code, but to refuse service to someone he thinks is gay is wrong. And it is why gays need more protections from people like him. And quite frankly he is a bigot.

    • beth

Yes, he does have “the right” to say and do all those things. However, that does not make him right in doing so. In this day and it is a shame that there are still people so full of hate and bigotry. Defending “his right” to be a biggot doesn’t make you sound too bright either. We all have rights to do and say many things that are just plain morally wrong! These types of attitudes do not help our society evolve toward a more peaceful coexistence! Instead of defending “his rights” we should all be out there educating people and fighting (not in a violent sense) so they will not use their rights in morally repugnant ways!

    • Juliet

Someone said it above: as the owner of a public business, he can’t arbitrarily decide who he will serve. If he wants to have a private club for able-bodied, working, white heterosexual Christians, he can do that. But he can’t decide that he won’t serve people simply because of their appearance or lack of mobility, nor can he decide that an ‘issue’ is created by that appearance or handicap.

Those who don’t like his attitude can boycott his place, and make sure that others know that only a limited clientele will be served. And the appropriate authorities can investigate and bring the right charges against him.
