In the entire airtime of Sunday night’s Cosmos, evolution is mentioned exactly once. However, for the folks at Oklahoma FOX affiliate KOKH-TV in Oklahoma City, once was too much!
In the last ten minutes of show, liberal anti-Jesus liemonger Neil deGrasse Tyson did the unspeakable–he mentioned the idea of human evolution!
“We are newcomers to the Cosmos,” he explained. “Our own story only begins on the last night of the cosmic year.”
“Three and a half million years ago, our ancestors — your and mine left these traces,” Tyson said, pointing to footprints. “We stood up and parted ways from them. Once we were standing on two feet, our eyes were no longer fixated on the ground. Now, we were free to look up and wonder.”
KOKH-TV’s viewers, however, were treated instead to a very uncomfortable cut to a commercial for the evening news–complete with a promo for a story about a rather impressive 12-year-old bow hunter. When the show returned, fifteen seconds were missing from the show, scrubbing it clean of all mention of evolution.
Was this a coincidental editing error, or did the fine folks at the local FOX affiliate boldly declare, “We take our science in moderation, thank you very much!”
