Watch out for those death panels, Mr. President! White House Press Secretary Jay Carney has announced that President Obama will sign up for his health insurance through an exchange. In March of 2010, President Obama promised he would…and it seems he plans to follow through!
The President’s move would be largely symbolic, as the office of the President has been served by an excellent medical staff since the revolution (though it has been an issue with some extreme segments since the President committed the impeachable crime of being black).
With reelection behind him, the President shows a lot of character in keeping the promise–but his integrity will come at a cost! The President’s insurance will not be taxpayer subsidized, so it is likely that President Obama will face high out-of-pocket costs.
The White House has declined to say whether President Obama will purchase his coverage through the D.C. or Illinois exchange, or which insurance company President Obama will use.
All of this leads us to one question: what will TEApublicans do now that they can’t, even in the most Glenn Beckiest sense, say President Obama is “exempt?”
