No matter what the question is, the NRA has an answer: More guns.
If you felt anger and disgust watching the NRA’s recent ad attacking President Obama as an “Elitist Hypocrite,” just wait until you see this! In part two, they double down on their claims, even using clips of liberals calling Wayne LaPierre everything from “laughable” to “f**ked in the head” (both seem accurate to us). According to the NRA, the media is full of liberal elites…but REAL Americans side with the NRA and want armed guards in all schools. The most disturbing aspect of the video in our opinion, is their NRA member counter. It’s fear-mongering, paranoia-inducing videos like these that are the reason people are joining their organization in droves.
So, what do you think, Americans Against the Tea Party? DOES America side with LaPierre and the NRA?

I fail to see why we are not all on a similar side of this. But the NRA continues to fight the fight with fear and rhetoric. I was watching an interview with an retired NYC police officer and othe officer friends of mine have a similar opinion.
They say if you want to really guard schools, then you need a trained officer at every door, even if those doors are locked with chains because they can be broken into. Furthermore you cannot lock doors with chains because it is a fire hazard. And another problem is that students use these doors to let friends in and in many schools delivery luck guys and girls in. So you have a guard at every door, which means about four guards per school. But they must get there when the first teacher arrives and not leave until the last janitor leaves. In most schools this is from about 6AM to 10PM. So we have two full time shifts with lunch relief. So lets say a total of nine guards per school. Given that the average salary for a police officer in NY with pension, and health benefits is about 100K, that is 900K per school. The we add on extra vehicles and surveillance equipment. My district has nine schools. That is 8.1 million dollars a year for the officers and about 100K or 900K for the equipment. My town has about 40,000 residents so it comes to about $2,250 per resident. A family of four will have to pay an extra $9,000. All our children are worth this. But my feeling about americans is they want everything, but when something costs us money. They look to cut costs. I would be for this on a money basis but I don’t know how I feel about having this many police in a school on an everyday basis. The reality is not everyone can afford this, don’t forget we are talking about residents, every man woman and child even our seniors who don’t have kids in school. What about residents who send their children to private school. Would they go along? I adon’t have any children in thses schools, mine have graduated, I would pay but should I? Constitutionally? I don’t know. Furthermore, if this type of safety were to be extended to colleges, the costs would be astronomical to block every single dorr, entrance , dorm etc at THREE shifts a day with relief.
My vote is for tighter gun restrictions and for a greater funding for mental health. Please understand perfect safety in our world is an illusion, Not every tragedy can be avoided, Cancer, car accidents, burglaries. But we can put together solutions if we stop making fun of each other and treating the other side with disgust and stupid rhetoric and we don’t govern by fear. Drunk driving accidents are down due to better enforcement and better equipment. Car deaths are down due to seat-belts. We need regulation of guns to help bring gun deaths down also.
Remind me, what is so free about a world where everyone is holstered up? Our state, Wisconsin, became a concealed carry state, and since that time I feel a lot LESS safe then ever before. We just stepped back into history 100 + years ago when most man had a gun strapped to their hip. How can that make you feel safe? This is a civilized society? I think not, and the guy shooting off his mouth about that making me UNamerican, needs to take his meds and crawl back under his rock.
Inbred, redneck, baccy chewin, sibling screwing asshats!. Start shooting each other and leave the gene pool Darwin style!.
My first thought is that LaPierre has no right at all to whine about the government’s actions, and the NRA has no right to say that the government should enforce existing gun laws when the NRA itself was directly involved with crafting legislation tying the hands of the ATF and the feds in investigating, tracking, and stopping illegal gun transactions (which can be traced to about 1% of dealers) in the form of the Tiahart Amendment. When I heard the NRA call the President a hypocrite, I almost choked on my sandwich laughing: just what is it that is NOT hypocritical about insisting that the feds enforce existing gun laws while crafting legislation meant to prevent the feds from doing just that, then complaining about the government not enforcing those laws when atrocities happen?
The testimonial where one mother apparently sleeps better at night knowing her child’s shool has an armed guard is a tacit admission that the NRA stays in business by sowing fear and discord in the American public. If “real Americans” stand with the NRA, it’s only because by the NRA’s tacit admission, they are too frightened to do otherwise. That is not an accomplishment to boast about. Americans should be pissed and disgusted about being manipulated like that as the NRA capitalizes on death and mayhem to push more weapons into an already volatile situation.
People seem to forget that the NRA is a corporate lobbyist for gun manufacturers. It’s sole purpose is to increase sales of all kinds of guns. If it was an organization for gun owners it would be pushing for safety measures and proper use of guns. Shooting people is not a proper use of guns. Hunting, shooting competition and home security should be what the NRA advocates but they have been taken over by a faction that does not care about that. The NRA should not have a voice in the discussion of mass shootings or murder by guns.
