A racist Tea Partier from Mississippi? You don’t say. But seriously, isn’t it time to start weeding these guys out by now? I recently drove through Mississippi on my way to the best city in the South, New Orleans, and I must say…uhhh…nothing really because there wasn’t much going on in the land where the Confederate flag is still part of their State flag.
However, Mississippi State Senator Chris McDaniel (R) decided to spice things up a bit by retweeting a tweet from an account that appears to support an extreme-right Greek political party which regularly publishes white supremacist tweets. In his defense, we all do crazy things when we’re bored and being from that highly forested and lonely state, one can only imagine the amount of dullness flowing through his veins.
Although the @senatormcdaniel twitter account is not verified, multiple previous tweets have been personal and appear to have been posted by the Senator (see below). When reached for comment, Senator McDaniel’s did not respond to several questions regarding the tweets.
It has been reported that in 2013 McDaniel attended at least one Neo-Confederate event in Mississippi. According to Mother Jones, McDaniel also blamed hip-hop for gun violence. Yes, it has nothing to do with all the gun promotion Southerners seem to be so proud of.
