According to a new poll released by CNN/ORC, the GOP just doesn’t work for American women.
A full 55% of Americans, both men and women combined, think that the Republican Party is out of touch with women.
While a majority of Republican women say their party understands them just fine, women who identified at Independents thought the GOP was out to lunch on women’s issues.
While the GOP struggles with its public image concerning their handling of women’s issues, even attempting to sensitize House and Senate Republicans with sensitivity training, the “kinder, gentler” GOP is not impressing women. House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said in December that Republicans were making progress, but that “there are a lot more females in the Democratic caucus than there are in the Republican conference. And some of our members just aren’t as sensitive as they ought to be.”
Let’s take a moment to reflect on just a few of the brighter points in the GOP’s recent efforts to understand women.
- GOP on Women: They’re sluts who can’t stop having sex if someone tells them that’s all they are
- Women are criminals under new Ohio law if they have an IUD
- GOP wants to punish poor women for having children
