Daily Show host Jon Stewart took Republicans to task on Thursday over their continued and unwavering insistence that the United States commit itself (and its wallet) to military situations around the globe while repeatedly claiming that spending on any domestic programs won’t work because while we have enough to provide foreign aid and wage war, we simply can’t afford to assist our own citizens.
“I’m really worried about the Republicans,” Stewart said. “Their inability to wean themselves off of military intervention. They have a culture of defendency, if you will. And I believe it’s turned them all into warfare queens. And I think we need to cut them off for their own good.”
Stewart rolled clips of GOPers calling for more resources to be devoted toward the bloody “creation of democracy” while refusing to accept anything that creates jobs, helps our veterans, or helps ease the burden on the unemployed.
“Basically, when we give other countries’ government assistance, they handle it great,” he said. “But when we get it ourselves, we f*ck it all up.”
In particular, Alabama Republican Senator Jeff Sessions complained about creating “more entitlements” through spending money on our own citizenry–while having absolutely zero problem with dedicating our soldiers to war.
