When a struggling mother went shopping for diapers on Sunday she got a welcome surprise from another shopper. Hoping that the local Wal-Mart would price match, as they claim to do in their corporate policy, Katie Kanefke grabbed four boxes of diapers. When at the check-out counter she was told by the worker that they would not honor their price match guarantee.
Disheartened, she pulled three of the boxes off the counter to put them back, giving apologies to the other customers in line when an unexpected hero came to her side.
73 year old Carol Flynn whipped out her credit card and proceeded to pay for the diapers. This is just a touching moment of humanism and community. When asked why she did this Flynn responded,
Diapers are for babies and babies are on my heart. We’re always concerned about moms and healthy babies.
