Missouri Man Bobby Leonard reportedly told police that he shot his wife over the weekend because he was “tired of her.”
The Southeast Missourian reports that Ripley County Cpl. Earl Wheetley was called to a home in Naylor Saturday evening. There he found Carolyn Leonard “laying on the front porch covered in blood.” Wheetley said in an affidavit he filed that Carolyn “stated her and her husband was arguing, and he shot her.”Carolyn had been shot in the shoulder.
When her 59-year-old husband, Bobby Leonard, emerged from the trailer, Wheetly handcuffed him.
When asked by the Ripley County officer whether he had any weapons on him, Leonard replied, “No, the gun is in the house on the counter.” After being read his rights and placed under arrested, Bobby asked if his wife was dead. When Wheetley told Leonard that his wife was still alive, he “asked Bobby what happened.”
Bobby allegedly responded, “I got tired of her and shot her.”
Police charged Leonard with first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action or first-degree domestic assault. Currently, he is being held at the Doniphan City Jail in lieu of the $150,000 cash bond.
Carolyn Leonard was flown to a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Sheriff Ron Barnett described her condition as “stable.”
