Rick Perry (R-Idiot) used an opportunity today at the National Right To Life Conference to throw cheap shots at brave Texas State Senator Wendy Davis for her historical filibuster, which forced a Republican-sponsored Bill, that would have closed all but 5 abortion clinics in the state down, off the voting floor. Perry stated,
In fact, even the woman who filibustered the Senate the other day was born into difficult circumstances. She was the daughter of a single woman, she was a teenage mother herself. She managed to eventually graduate from Harvard Law School and serve in the Texas senate. It is just unfortunate that she hasn’t learned from her own example that every life must be given a chance to realize its full potential and that every life matters.
The implication, if you didn’t catch it, being that Davis should oppose ALL women’s right to choose because she herself wasn’t aborted and then chose not to have her own child aborted, despite difficult odds. Of course, this is typical of the TEApublican’s trademark black and white, oversimplified thinking patterns that we have all come to know so well.
Another note on Perry and his unshakable “life-valuing” stance; Texas executed its 500th inmate today–it was a woman.
