She made the announcement while addressing the 2014 National Conference on Ending Homelessness.
She also announced that nearly 100 local leaders have pledged this month to end homelessness among veterans in their communities by the end of 2015. The expanded initiative is part of the Mayors Challenge to End Veterans Homelessness. Speaking of the project, Ms. Obama said that “the idea anyone who has worn our country’s uniform spends their nights sleeping on the ground should horrify us,” and that it’s the duty of the American people to end the homelessness among veterans.
The idea that anyone should spend their nights sleeping on the ground should horrify us, regardless what their job was. It’s good to see the initiative being taken to help veterans, since they deserve it, but what about everyone else?
