There are any number of things that have caused the recent dip in oil prices; a flooded market, OPEC internecine price-warfare, and a low global demand are on the top of the list. Nowhere on that list, however, is outgoing Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann.
But nobody tell Bachmann that. I doubt she’ll listen.
Bachmann took to social media late this week with the expressed intent of congratulating herself. For what? For bringing gas prices down under two dollars a gallon, you silly liberal, that’s what.
During her bid for GOP class clown in 2012, Bachmann vowed to bring gas prices back under two dollars a gallon, saying that, “Under President Bachmann you will see gasoline come down below $2 a gallon again. That will happen.”
Well, gas is down under two dollars a gallon now. And Michele isn’t going to let the fact that it’s “President Obama,” not “President Bachmann,” ruin her celebration. Bachmann is more than happy to take credit for the tumbling prices, and a column at WhirldNutDaily claimed that, as a result, Bachmann is getting the “last laugh at her critics.”
I don’t know about that guys, I’m laughing pretty hard over here.
WND’s Drew Zahn wrote on Friday that, “Back in December, Mark Finkelstein of Newsbusters also noticed that gas prices were edging closer and closer to the $2 mark and recalled the mainstream media, or MSM, mockery of Bachmann.”
In a tweet, conservative Mollie Hemingway credited Bachman with “predicting” the low prices:
Except Bachmann wasn’t predicting, and she had nothing to do with it. But that’s okay; reality won’t punch through their hermetically sealed rheological bubbles. So we should all just sit back over here and laugh. It’s more productive.
