The Right Wing may be characterizing the Las Vegas shooters, who took the lives of two police officers and one other victim in a senseless attack on Sunday, as meth-using neo-Nazi lefty socialists, but now that the identities of the shooters have been revealed, we see that nothing can be further from the truth–well, except for the Nazi and, perhaps, the meth parts. Those are real.
Jerad and Amanda Miller bragged regularly that they used to roll with the Bundy Ranch crew. Neighbors say that the Millers handed out white power propaganda, subscribed to a number of insane conspiracy theories, and spouted racist and anti-government statements.
The couple announced that “This is a start of a revolution,” before gunning down two police officers who were eating lunch at Cici’s Pizza. After they shot the officers, the pair draped the Gadsden flag–which has become the “Don’t Tread on Me” icon of the Tea Party–over their bodies, stripped them of their weapons and ammo, and headed across the street to Walmart. The Millers shot another person in the doorway before killing themselves. All three of their victims died.
Jerad Miller’s recent posts on Facebook are frightening, to say the least:
His Facebook Likes include the Three Percenter Nation, the leader of which recently threatened to remove Harry Reid’s testicles and promised civil war–twice, the NRA, the failure known as Operation American Spring, conservative think-tank FreedomWorks, and a number of pro-Second Amendment pages.
Miller’s profile picture is that of right-wing Facebook page, Uncle Sam’s Misguided Children, one of the many conservative bastion of racism and hatred on the internet — and a group that was largely behind the miserable abyss of humiliation that was Operation American Spring. The site has encouraged supporters to change their profile pictures to this image because…Obama or something:
Interestingly, the man who incoherently screamed “WHERE ARE YOU AT?” when Operation American Spring turned out to be a star-spangled flop, is a representative of that group. Not entirely relevant, but amusing none the less.
The group regularly preaches insane right-wing conspiracy theories, rants against President Obama and pro-Cliven Bundy misinformation.
Amanda Miller is much more private with her information, but is also a fan of the Three Percenters and FreedomWorks, as well as a number of right-wing “news” sources.
As long as we allow these groups to openly preach sedition–to make these threats–to openly plot a revolution…we will keep seeing events like this. It’s time we do something about right-wing terrorists. We can not tolerate this in a free nation.
