Ken Cuccinelli’s potential reign of terror is no longer a thing to fear. Cuccinelli, who has publicly stated that gays are destroying their souls, and has co-sponsored a bill to ban abortion, even in the cases of rape, left his chances at winning this year’s race for governor with his ideals: back in the 1800’s.
Four years after losing his first bid for Governor, Democrat Terry McAuliffe edged ahead of Cuccinelli to take control of City Hall.
Support for McAuliffe may not be as strong as it seems, though. According to the Washington Post, many voters cast their ballots more in disgust at the opponent than for their chosen candidate. According to an exit poll conducted by Edison Media Research for the National Election Pool, only four in ten voters identified as Democrats.
One man said he voted for McAuliffe because he “was not real fond of the affiliation between Mr. Cuccinelli and the Tea Party,” saying he voted for the “lesser of two weevils.”
Voters in Virginia realized that Cuccinelli was salivating at the opportunity to use his position to push his ideological agenda. Cuccinelli simply proved too extreme for Republicans in VA.
